Bodyline review: Alice JSK (pink.)

This is the first time I’ve used EMS shipping for my Bodyline products; I was sceptical that it would arrive in a timely manner, but once it was shipped it only took about 5 days. What I did learn however, is that Bodyline now only ship EMS orders on Tuesdays, which did hold up the process a few extra days. If you want your items quickly, I’d always recommend AIR shipping.

It came in the standard grey bag, though mine had a small rip at the side – a fault which could just have easily been Royal Mail’s as anyone else’s. My JSK was in the standard Bodyline garment bag, and my two hair falls were in separate sealed packets and a thin netting to ensure hygiene and keep the wig fibres together. (NOTE: although this is not a hair fall review: the products are good quality, the wig natural looking and sturdy- Recommended!)

This JSK is my new favourite. Not only is the Alice print sharp, colourful and true to the story, but the design is –I think- one of Bodyline’s nicest. The pink panel belt with three faux-crystal buttons and three bows on the front makes it a really unique design for a Bodyline JSK. The material is thick and the lace, lined with a heart motif, really adds femininity to this garment. Another notable feature of this dress is the straps, which are attached to the back of the dress by a discrete button tucked on the inside, allowing for two different lengths of straps. Since I’m 5’11 myself and only needed the smallest length, there’s plenty of room for adjustment for those with differently proportioned torsos, and those even taller than me! There is a zip fastening up the side and black shirring in the back of this JSK for elasticity.

All in all, this is a great dress; it’s thoughtfully designed, good quality for a reasonable price, and definitely a must-have for any Lolita with a fondness for Alice in wonderland. I would recommend it not only for quality but also for versatility; the adjustable straps and shirring ensuring a larger variety of body types is catered for. (:

Here I am, totally not accesorized yet except my bag, with my kitty sleeping on the packaging.

Lolita review time: Petticoat!

Today I will be posting a review of Petticoat Princess' 25" petticoat!
I have a huge petticoat for lolita. A big, expensive poofy petti of awesomeness. But, after the revelation that it's difficult to sit on the bus in it without the person next to me plonking themselves on top of it and me dying a little inside, I thought I'd better search for a less poofy, cheaper alternative.
I bought the 25" petticoat in black from petticoat princess on Ebay, after seeing a pretty positive review of it online (wow, alliteration!). Here's my review:

SHIPPING AND PACKAGING:
The seller dispatched the item the next day, very quickly. It arrived just a day later! After seeing the package and the number of stamps on it, it was clear why. It's really nice and thoughtful when a seller goes out of their way to ensure speedy delivery.

The petti came in the usual secure brown bag, and was then protected inside another clear plastic bag (shown below) which will protect the garment should any damage or rips occur.

STRUCTURE AND FASTENINGS
The petticoat fastens, as described with a simple drawstring. Not very elegant, but it does mean the product is a one size fits most garment.
The petticoat is quite short, but I don't mind - no petti peeping from under my skirt!
 POOF
There are three layers all in all. The material isn't great quality and a little stiff, but you get what you pay for!

The poof is substantial. It's nice for a toned down look or as an additional garment for those looking to make their skirts even more cupcake shaped, but I will be sticking mostly to my lovely, huge yet impractical petticoat. If you're looking for a cheaper option, give Petticoat Princess a try, but remember, when it comes to quality, the price represents the result.
